There will be a Mendip Cave Rescue First Aid training evening, to be held at the Wessex Cave Club hut on the 25th August 2016 at 19:00, to be run by Rich Marlow. The evening will concentrate on treating casualties with suspected fractures. All are welcome, but this evening will be aimed towards people who already hold some form of first aid qualification.
On Saturday 19th March 2016 there will be a major training event to be held in Burrington Combe on Mendip. This will be an all day event and will be held in conjunction with several of our neighbouring cave rescue teams, including Gloucestershire Cave Rescue Group and South East Cave Rescue Organisation. Scenarios to be covered during the day will include several search and rescue situations underground and several comms workshops, including the use of the new cave link communication system to send messages between the various teams.
In the evening there will be the MCR General Meeting to be held in the Hunters Lodge Inn, Priddy followed by a firkin of beer generously donated by the Priddy Folk Festival to say thank you for providing first aid cover at previous years festivals. All are welcome to come along to any of the rescue workshops, the meeting or just to drink the beer and socialise with the team.
On the 10th February 2016 there will be a training session with the new MCR Cave Link communications equipment, based at Burrington Combe. The 2 underground Cave Link units will be taken to different caves (probably Rods Pot and Goatchurch) and the surface unit will be used to communicate with both of them simultaneously. Meet at the car park by the public toilets at 19:30.
There will be a rescue workshop held at Swildons Hole, Priddy starting at 10:00 on 25th October. All are welcome to come along and hopefully learn what will happen during a cave rescue and practise some new skills.
There will be a demonstration & training session on the new cave link communication system in the Hunters Lodge Inn Priddy on the 23rd October starting at 19:30. All are welcome to come along and find out a little more about how this new technology works and how the MCR will be using it.\r\n
